Message from Principal Cardoza

Message from principal

Dear Students & Families,

I want to welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year at New Bedford High School! It is hard to believe that the summer break has come to an end, but we are ready for an exciting year ahead. While students were on break, our facilities team and administrators were working hard to improve our learning spaces and overall academic experience for students. As part of the improvements, we have shifted the start time for students, the schedule, and established a house model. These shifts are focused on responding to the needs of students and ensuring that all students feel they are heard and supported while at NBHS.

We are also dedicated to making NBHS a safe, supportive, and enriching place where all students can grow academically, socially, and personally. There is something for everyone here, and we want you to feel connected, not just in the classroom but by engaging in activities that you are passionate about. I encourage you to get involved and take advantage of all the resources and opportunities we offer. Whether it’s joining a club, playing a sport, or helping out in the community, there are so many ways to make your high school experience memorable and meaningful. Remember, each of you has the power to make a positive difference in your own life and in our school- community so get involved!

As we start this new school year, let’s support each other, celebrate our successes, and learn from any obstacles we face. I challenge you to set high goals, try new things, take risks, and push yourself to be great! Together we can create a positive and inclusive school environment where everyone feels valued and empowered.

Welcome back! Let's make this year our best one yet! #WhalerPride

Sincerely,
Joyce Cardoza
