Dual Enrollment

Interaction with the larger community is an integral component of the education process at New Bedford High School.  Many programs enrich the students’ educational experience which can be achieved through college and career readiness opportunities such as dual enrollment.

Dual enrollment is one of the many programs we offer that can help your child become college and career ready. Massachusetts defines students who are college and career ready as demonstrating the knowledge, skills and abilities that are necessary to successfully complete entry-level, credit-bearing college courses, participate in certificate or workplace training programs, and enter economically viable career pathways.

Dual Enrollment – College Programs

Dual enrollment helps qualified students earn college credit while still in high school at no cost to the student. NBHS has dual enrollment partnerships with BCC, UMass Dartmouth, and Rhode Island College.

Senior students who have a GPA of 3.0 or better and are recommended by their guidance counselor and approved by the Headmaster for participation are eligible for this program.

The Mathematics Department currently partners with Rhode Island College (R.I.C.) to provide college credit to students who meet the academic expectations and challenges in our Statistics course.  For information regarding the New Bedford High School Statistics courses and R.I.C. partnership, see Mrs. Vieira.

Dual Enrollment – Middle School Programs

Eligible grade 8 students have the exciting opportunity to attend NBHS Math and English classes and simultaneously earn credits. Grade 8 parents should speak to their child's guidance counselor for more information.
